Why Emerging Artists Matter & Why Thursdays Exists

Starting Thursdays was never just about creating another art platform. It grew from a desire to build a space where overlooked voices could be seen, heard, and valued. Too often, emerging and underrepresented artists struggle to find visibility in traditional galleries, where the focus leans on established names and market-driven trends. Thursdays exists to shift that focus, to spotlight creativity that challenges, questions, and expands how we think about art and its role in the world.

Emerging artists are the lifeblood of cultural change. They bring fresh perspectives, take risks, and often work with limited resources, creating art that is raw, experimental, and deeply connected to lived experiences. Their work reminds us that art isn’t only about beauty or prestige, it is about conversation, community, and transformation.

This is also why we’ve chosen to launch Thursdays with a virtual exhibition. The digital space removes physical barriers: it’s accessible from anywhere, it doesn’t require expensive gallery rentals, and it allows us to connect artists and audiences globally. In a virtual setting, visibility is not limited by geography or gatekeeping; it can expand freely, just like the ideas behind the work.

At its heart, Thursdays is a threshold space. Just like the day itself sits between the middle and end of the week, we imagine our platform as an “in-between”, a place where emerging artists can cross into visibility, and where audiences can encounter art that inspires reflection and change.

This is just the beginning. As Thursdays grows, we hope to not only showcase exhibitions but also spark dialogue, publish essays, and build a community rooted in empathy, experimentation, and activism. Because when emerging voices are given space, the future of art becomes richer, bolder, and more just.
