First Light brings together fourteen emerging and underrepresented artists from across the world for the inaugural exhibition of Thursdays Collective. The works span photography, film, video, performance, painting, and mixed media, as varied in form as the artists themselves.

Some works engage directly with the social and political: protest and collective action, ecological crisis, gendered economic inequality, the invisible margins of public space. Others move through more interior territories, faith and devotion, memory and loss, the emotional textures of everyday life, the body as a site of transformation and inquiry. Together they form a picture of contemporary art practice in its full, unruly range.

What connects these artists is not a shared subject but a shared seriousness. First Light was built to give that workspace, and to make it accessible to anyone, anywhere, through an immersive 3D virtual environment.
